We plan and carry out work responsibly, with appropriate controls in place to reduce risks to workers, clients, visitors and members of the public.
Our Health and Safety Commitment
We aim to maintain safe working conditions across all projects and comply with applicable UK health and safety legislation and construction requirements. Our approach reflects the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).
Risk Assessment and Safe Working
Before work begins, relevant hazards are identified and suitable control measures are put in place. Where required, risk assessments and method statements are prepared to establish safe systems of work.
Particular attention is given to the risks associated with building alterations, refurbishment and restoration, including structural stability, work at height, dust, hazardous substances, tools, machinery, manual handling and site access.
Competent Workers and Contractors
Work is undertaken by suitably qualified and competent people. Workers and contractors are expected to have the knowledge, skills and experience necessary for their assigned duties and to follow site safety requirements.
Personal Protective Equipment
Suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided or required where risks cannot be adequately controlled through other measures. PPE must be appropriate for the work and used correctly.
Site Safety
Construction and restoration areas are kept as safe and orderly as reasonably practicable. Appropriate measures are used to control access, protect workers and visitors, manage materials and equipment, and minimise risks to neighbouring properties and the public.
Structural and Restoration Work
As our work can involve older buildings and historical structures, structural condition and stability are considered before and during relevant works. Where necessary, specialist advice and suitable temporary support arrangements are obtained to reduce the risk of structural failure.
Emergency Procedures
Suitable arrangements are maintained for responding to accidents, fires, injuries and other foreseeable emergencies. Incidents and near misses are reviewed where appropriate so that corrective action can be taken.
Training and Communication
Health and safety information is communicated to workers and contractors as necessary. Instructions, supervision and training are provided according to the nature and risks of the work.
